What is Water Soluble CBD?

Water and oil just don’t mix. Because CBD is derived from extracted hemp oil, it’s hydrophobic by nature and isn’t soluble in water. As a result, the water itself won’t contain any significant CBD.

Our Water Soluble CBD works by dissolving distillate in a colorless, flavorless, naturally-derived oil and then creating nanoscopic droplets of that oil with a high-pressure emulsifier. This lipophilic (oily) interior (i.e. ability to dissolve in fats, oils, and lipids) nano-emulsion is stabilized with surfactants, molecules that can dissolve in both oil and water, such that the droplets won’t recombine and instead remain evenly dispersed in a product. The result is a high-quality, stable additive with virtually no effect on color, taste or texture.

Nano-emulsions are a much better option for transporting lipophilic compounds compared to liposomes, since nan-emulsions more efficiently enable a higher absorption of active ingredients across the cell membrane. Due to their transparent properties and extremely small droplet size, there is no phase separation (oil separating from water).
